Fire Fighter/Engineer Mark Kelsey Memorial

This page is dedicated to the memory of Washington Native Mark Kelsey who, in the line of duty,
gave his life to save the lives of others at the "Sofa Super Store" fire on June 18, 2007, in Charleston, South
Carolina.
This memorial is dedicated for fallen firefighters from
Daviess County, with Mark Kelsey being the first to be memorialized. We dedicated it on 9-11-07 and asked
Mark Kelsey's mom, Paula to unveil it. Also given to Paula Kelsey were nearly 100 Fire Department T-shirts that
were donated to her from from brothers and sisters across Indiana, Kentucky and even Iraq. Let us not forget our fallen
brother and sister firefighters.
